Overcoming the Storm

Storms can be a cleansing time; it’s just a matter of finding the strength to walk through!

Sometimes we’re excited. Sometimes we’re overwhelmed. Sometimes we’re at our bottom, and sometimes we’re in shock of what just happened as our lives are turned upside down and we lose control. I have been in that season, where the storm has brought me to my knees and I’ve cried out, “Lord, help me. What am I to do? Which path am I to take? How did this happen? Why is this happening? What have I done?”

Only to hear the small quiet voice of God say, “I’m here. You are not alone. Lean on me.”

It can be confusing, and at times we question God and His will. The enemy always wants to fill us with doubt and confusion, but know that it is not of God! Truly, 2015 has been a year of heartache and loss, but I know that God is in control, and through the storm I can overcome and find peace.

What storm are you facing?

The Stuck Storm

Career Change Storm

The Divorce Storm

The Midlife Storm

The Cancer Storm

The Loss of a Child Storm

The Addiction Storm

The Bondage Storm

The Financial Storm

The Marriage Struggle Storm

The Loss of Job Storm

Sometimes the storms can pull you under–I have experienced that in my own life. But when I surrender and call on God, He is there to bring me to shore.

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you: And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. (“My child, did you think I would let you drown?”)

I know how hard it can be to go through the storm, but as I go through the storms, they are where Jesus meets me to prepare me, train me, and allow me to grow. I have grown more and more in every storm, learning more about who I am. My faith has deepened, and I have learned to trust in the process. Sometimes we need to just sit in the storm and Be Still while we wait on God. With every storm, I have become more of who God created me to be. My light shines brighter for the world to see, and God shines brighter in me.

“We want Jesus to hurry and calm the storm. He wants us to find Him in the midst of it first.” -Beth Moore

We do not always get to choose our new beginnings! We must have faith and the hope that God is opening new doors that we would have never walked thorough had a situation not forced us. I know that at the end of every storm, my life turned out better than I could have imagined, and I got closer to my purpose. Know that it can take time, maybe years, but God has a plan, and it’s always so much greater than ours. “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and give your hope!” Jeremiah 29:11

Don’t Give Up! When you think you can’t hold on, the storm will pass and the Son will Shine.

If you’re in a season of Joy, embrace it, enjoy it, and thank God for it. If you’re in the storm, know they come and go, but it is in the storm that Jesus wants to meet you first! Today I thank God for the storms I have overcome with His great Love!

Have you ever noticed that it’s through our pain and struggles that we come to know and love the hope in Christ Jesus?

Are you meeting Jesus in your storm?

Know that He is in the storm, waiting for you to reach out so He can bring you to shore!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I don’t have the answers for why this is happening, but I know you are there. I am ready to be brought to shore. I know that this is a season in my life, and with you, I can overcome. Help me to meet you in the storm. Comfort me and bring peace in my life as I walk through the storm, knowing you are bringing me into your perfect will for my life.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in our time of need. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.

Psalm 46 1-2

Blessings,

Jill
