The New Year is upon us, and as I close out 2015 and look to embrace the future ahead in 2016, I leave behind and let go:
I let go of comparing myself and my life to others.
I embrace with gratitude loving the life God gave me.
If we are not thankful and grateful for what He has given us, why should He bless us with more? In having an ungrateful attitude, we are dishonoring Him and not showing appreciation for our blessings. I know it could be a lot worse, so, “I thank you Lord for your blessings in my life.”
I let go of judging myself and feeling unloved.
I embrace loving myself and who God created me to be.
I put down the many masks that I have tried to hide behind and see myself as God sees me: a loving, beautiful, joyful, and caring child of His. How it must sadden and insult Him when we can’t love who He created us to be. Are we going to believe God or continue to listen to all the lies?
Start the New Year with new affirmations for yourself that will uplift and encourage you to change the old tapes to new ones. Today, make a commitment to stop listening to the lies and make every thought not of God obedient to Christ! When a negative thought comes to attack me, I just quote the scripture from Corinthians 10:5 and replace it with a positive godly thought.
I let go of trying to be perfect.
I embrace allowing myself to just be.
I want to be in the moment and learn to see the beauty and blessings all around me rather than trying to create a picture-perfect world. Think about how many moments we miss when we are not present. Put down the phone, the emails–texts and social media posts can wait. Look at someone; especially our children when they talk to us. Make that person feel loved.
I let go of the negative thoughts that want to keep me in bondage.
I embrace God’s truth.
I let go of thinking things are impossible.
I embrace the possibilities with God.
All things are possible! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
I let go of being hard on myself.
I embrace nurturing myself more.
I let go of loving with conditions.
I embrace loving unconditionally.
I enter 2016 with the hope and joy of what God has in store for me. I surrender all and pray to the Lord.
“Lord, teach me your ways and use me to further your kingdom. Help me to embrace what’s ahead as I fulfill my purpose and your plan for my life. Help me to stay humble as I share your truth and love with others. Help me to encourage and comfort those who are hurting and in need of healing and prayer. Give me your strength and wisdom to bring your peace, joy, and love to a hurting world.”
